After Chemo - How to Rebuild your Immune System

You have successfully made it through chemo. It is al behind you. You have the rest of your life in front of you, but your energy is so low you can hardly get out of bed most mornings. If you have a care giver, ask them to make this soup for you.

Recovery from chemo is a necessary part of your follow-up treatment. Strengthening your immune system is necessary and has a great side effect. . . your energy will increase.

You will need one head of garlic. Yes, the entire head of garlic. Peel and put into the crock pot. The crock pot should be a five quart capacity. This is enough soup for about 10-to-12 servings.

Buy one pound of carrots (organic would be best, but non-organic is fine, too) One carton of Parmi strained tomatoes. This is usually located where the canned tomatoes are. I like this variety of tomatoes because it is in a carton (better than a can because cans are lined with plastic - trust me - avoid eating or drinking out of plastic anything while you are recovering from chemo. The only ingredient in the Parmi are "tomatoes." No ingredients you need to call your lawyer about so he can explain the big words to us.

One pound of potatoes, peeled and cut into fourths. Do the same with the carrots. Put both into the crock pot. Last ingredient - water. Filtered water - not from a plastic bottle. Yes, you can use tap water. Add 2 cups of room temperature water into the crock pot and then add ten (10) cups of boiling water. Careful not to splash yourself.

Cover the pot with a lid and cook on high heat for 4-to-8 hours. Unplug the crock pot and take off the lid. Let cook for a few hours. I use a potato masher to mash all the ingredients together. You're almost done. I have a wand blender to puree everything to be very smooth and the mixture looks creamy.

Add one teaspoon salt (no iodized salt, please} Add one carton of Parmi. Blend with the hand blender until it looks like a creamy tomato soup. If the soup is cold, ladle out one serving and warm on the stove.

Depending on your taste buds, you may need more salt, but it is recommended not to add anymore. A simple weekly menu might be: Breakfast: free range scrambled egg. Mid morning snack: orange, Lunch: This soup: Mid afternoon snack: a banana and for Dinner: a large raw salad with home made salad dressing. (1/2 cup apple cider vinegar, 3/4 cup EVOO - extra virgin olive oil, one teaspoon minced garlic.)

A before bed snack would be a Granny Smith apple or your favorite fruit before bed. Lastly, a cup of warm chamomile tea to help you sleep.

Try this simple meal plan for just a week. You should feel better by the end of the week. Go to my website for more information. Download a free chapter of my book called, "The Feel Better in 48 Hours Plan."

You're welcome. Your liver still needs help - - yes, even seven months after chemo. Chemo is very rough on your immune system. What's the king pin of your immune system - your liver.

The reason why this soup is so helpful after chemo is because of the carrots that build up the liver. An 8-ounce glass of carrot juice is beneficial as well. The second reason this soup is so effective to build the immune system is its "cleanness.". By "cleanness" I am referring to zero additives and preservatives.

Please know that additives and preservatives KILL the liver. I call them "killer calories." Start to eat a clean diet. I have help, recipes, videos and a whole way of cooking at "MigrainePhD"

This would have been very helpful about 7 months ago when I completed chemo. I will be sure to mention this to anyone completing their therapy soon. This looks to be very good for recovering. Thank you for sharing this.
